Say “Yes” to Your Inspired Life

, , ,

Are you ready to learn more about living your inspired life?

I had a great conversation with Chizoma Cluff of Esteem Yourself on November 1, 2011 based on my new book, The Inspired Life:  Unleashing Your Mind’s Capacity for Joy.

If you are committed to saying, “Yes” to your inspired life vision then listen to our conversation to nourish your inspired life:

Esteem Yourself: Say \”Yes\” to Your Inspired Life

I’d love to hear your comments and respond to your questions to support you in living your inspired life.

Are You the 100th Monkey?

There have been many names for and descriptions of the times we are living in.  Some consider this to be a New Age, others the Age of Aquarius.  To some it is the End Times with doomsday quickly approaching.  Some believe the end of the Mayan Calendar is simply an astronomical occurrence while others define it as the end of civilization as we know it; still others say while it marks an end, it is a gateway to a new beginning of peace and cooperation among all peoples.

Whatever you may believe, isn’t now the time to enrich your life by affirming and committing to your inspired life vision?  At the very least living your vision offers you the possibility of greater joy, fulfillment and happiness.  And, at best, as you put your stake in the ground for living a more peaceful and loving life, your consciousness generating your actions contributes to the collective consciousness of the Greater Field of Life, and love grows and peace expands for all.
From The Inspired Life:  Unleashing Your Mind’s Capacity for Joy

I wrote the above words as I was finishing the manuscript for The Inspired Life.  As I re-read them this morning I felt a stirring within me that the time is now.   There is a shift going on in the world and if you are like millions of people you are feeling this shift.  While we can point to the changes in climate conditions, acts of nature, the breakdown of governments, the Arab Spring and the Occupy Movement that is now global and the global financial crisis as indicators of this shift – it is the shift is consciousness that is most profound.  For it is truly in consciousness, in our thoughts that all change takes root.

This shift is reflected in the words of mystics who through the ages have proclaimed that Thoughts Create Reality and now supported by scientists, like Bruce Lipton, author of The Biology of Belief, whose cell research has shown that genes and DNA do not control our biology; instead DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell including the energetic messages from out positive and negative thoughts.

Science, Religion and Spirituality have all taken different paths – leading to the same truth, We Are One. This is the Shift – the shift in consciousness that is heralding in a new paradigm.  The time between 11/11/11 – 12/21/12 is when we are being called to step to the plate, claim our space and put our stake in the ground to live a life of purpose  that expresses our individual heartsongs – thereby consciously adding our energetic imprint to the collective consciousness.

I Am Inspired

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed it’s the only thing that ever has.
Margaret Mead

I am Inspired by Molly Katchpole.  When Bank of America announced that it would be adding a $5.00 monthly fee for using a debit card, Molly (a 22 year old from Washington, DC) took action and began a petition.  In less than a month 300,000 people responded and Bank of America is revising its’ position… though not yet eliminating the fee for all customers.

I am inspired by Molly for taking action with her petition through that has rallied so many of us to easily allow our voices to be heard.  This is a striking example of the impact each of us can have.  This is empowerment.

Watch Diane Sawyer’s reporting of the story:

Allow your voice to be heard – each one of us does make a difference.

Through the wonders of the Internet I met Matthew Fox about  five years ago when he contacted me through the WITH Forgiveness project Sheri Rosenthal and I created.  Through his newsletter Matthew was spreading the word about our work.  But this contact was just the beginning, I got to meet Matthew and his terrific wife, Sheri when they stopped in Sedona, AZ during a vacation (and I was living nearby).  Though it had been a snowy day outside I clearly recall our conversation which felt like I was in the midst of bright sunshine.  Over the years we have stayed in, being cheerleaders for one another.  This past summer, as we were both putting the final touches on our new books, I had the opportunity to read Matthew’s new book Growing Softly Stronger in the Cracked Places.

Susyn:  What does living an inspired life mean to you?

Matthew:  Inspiration means Spirit, Divine Source, lives within in my life.  Therefore, an inspired life means I consciously maintain that connection to Source.

Susyn:  In your daily life, how do you nourish your inspired life?

Matthew:  I believe all desires come from Divine Source.  Therefore, the easiest way for me to nourish my inspired life is to work within my desires.

Susyn:  What is your biggest challenge in living an inspired life and how do you approach this challenge?  My biggest challenge is balancing other people’s requests with fulfilling my desires.  I “know” that I attract those requests to assist me with my desire.  However, in the heat of the moment, I sometimes forget this.  My second biggest challenge is finding ways to fulfill my desire while meeting my financial obligations.

Susyn:  Who/What has influenced you in living your inspired life?

Matthew:  My life partner, Sheri influences me the most.  She recently released many of her old fears that blocked her ability to follow her inspiration.  Her new found courage is currently a great influence on my inspired life.

My recent experience of being arrested and jailed for six weeks that I write about in Growing Softly Stronger in the Cracked Places:  A Time of Challenges and Miracles inspired me to new depths of understanding in many areas.

The materials that influenced me the most in my inspired life are Neale Donald Walsch’s Conversations with God.  Those books confirmed my new spiritual path and gave me the boldness to speak forth my Peace of Mind message.

Susyn:  What are you working on now?

Matthew:  I am currently working on several project:

  • Videos for The Peace of Mind Training Institute Seminars
  • My new website that was launched on my 50th birthday on 9/18/11
  • My next book, More Growing Softly Stronger in the Cracked Places

Susyn:  What words of wisdom do you have for someone who desires to live their inspired life vision?

Matthew:  Trust your desires by seeing them as Divine Source speaking to you.

How does a “normal” person become incarcerated for hugging their children and still come out of the experience with strong positive feelings? How would anyone react to a sudden arrest, upheaval of a family with 8 children, removal of children from the home, betrayal by extended family, unfounded accusations and indictment? This is a remarkable story of the dramatic events of this family chronicled by a man with the courage to share his story. Open your mind and experience the insights, conclusions and discovery of how the author achieved a phenomenal level of growth, love and understanding for people and events through his journey with the legal system.

Just Do It

Yesterday was a travel day for me – I’m back in San Francisco after being home (sigh!) on beautiful eastern Long Island for two weeks.  I have an Inspired Life  book signing tonight in Berkeley, CA and one in Pleasanton, CA next week.

Whenever I have a flight across country I imagine that I will get loads of work done on the plane – but the truth is that more often than not I watch TV – and yesterday was no different.  Initially the Food Network, Bravo and HGTV captured my attention.  Then while I was channel surfing I saw that the Republican Presidential hopefuls were debating – and thought, “here is another form of reality TV,” so I watched for an hour.

What I saw and heard were accusations slung back and forth, one person after another saying that their plan was the best, although I wasn’t any clearer about their plan.  People interrupted one another and I thought, for the most part, there was very little listening, not a lot of respect and alot of, “I’m right, they’re wrong.”

Then I remembered the Op-Ed column I read in The New York Times by Joe Nocera earlier in the day:

We Can All Become Job Creators

Howard Schultz.  God bless him.

When last we left the chairman and chief executive of Starbucks, in mid-August, he had written a widely publicized e-mail lamenting the poisonous state of our nation’s politics.  That led him to his first big idea:  a call for a boycott of political contributions until Democrats and Republicans began to act in a nonpartisan way for the good of the country.

The idea had undeniable appeal.  But it was also – let’s face it – pretty quixotic, fun to dream about but impossible to turn into reality.

Here we are two months later, and Schultz is back with Big Idea No. 2.  It is every bit as idealistic as his first big idea, but far more practical.  Starbucks is going to create a mechanism that will allow us citizens to do what the government and banks won’t:  lend money to small business.  This mechanism is scheduled to be rolled out on Nov 1.  This time Schultz is not tilting at windmills.  (read more…)

While politicians point fingers, blame, and get lost in the old paradigm of who is right and who is wrong each one of us has the opportunity to be the change.   As Occupy Wall Street has spread across the country and across the world I am reminded of Margaret Mead’s inspired and empowering words, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; it’s the only thing that ever has.”

Beginning Nov 1, I’m going to give $5.00 or more when I go into Starbucks (and I don’t even drink coffee!).  It just occurred to me, I’m a small business, maybe it’s the time for me to grow and hire more people to be part of my dream team.

Your Career – Your Calling

, , , , ,

During the past year so many of my coaching clients have expressed their yearning for their work to be a reflection of their “calling”.  They want to use their gifts, talents, skills and abilities as a way of expressing who they are.  They deeply desire to have their passion come alive through their work.

At the same time given the current economic conditions people are fearful that they cannot be successful if they follow their dreams.  All too often “reality” trumps their willingness to explore the possibility of their career and their “calling” being aligned.

I am very familiar with this dilemma.  In 1980 I left my full-time corporate position (my mom thought I was crazy!) to start my own coaching and consulting practice in order to use my gifts and talents in a way that made my heart sing and guided others in living their dreams.  While there have been days in the past 31 years when I wondered when my next client would appear, I know, without a shadow of a doubt that this path has enriched my life and has taught me that our dreams are only limited by our thinking.

This is why I am so excited to be one of the “experts” on Kelly Harrington’s Career Summit starting on Tuesday October 18th – Your Career Your Calling.  If you are a professional woman who desires to have your career be fully aligned with your “calling” then this free program is for you.  Register now.

I’m Inspired by: Kelly Harrington

I met Kelly Harrington, (founder of the Career Max Group) earlier this year and have been continually inspired by her commitment to her big dream.  She has been a magnificent model for me as I have watched her offer her gifts, talents, skills and abilities to an ever expanding audience.  I am both honored and excited to be an expert on her virtual summit:  Your Career Your Calling (Join me on November 10th)

Susyn: What does living an inspired life mean to you?

Kelly:  To me, living an inspired life means truly going for your dreams.  I am constantly inspired BY others and want to serve as an inspiration FOR others.    I am inspired by those people who know what they want and take action on it despite what “reality” tells them to do.  I aim to follow this model in my own life as well. I am conscious and clear about what I want and need to be happy and successful in all of the areas of my life, I take action towards those dreams, and I am clear in my intention and prayer (in other words, I ask for energetic support from the universe).

Susyn: In your daily life, how do you nourish your inspired life?

Kelly:  I am mindful of the quality of the people I surround myself with.  I learn at least one new thing everyday (and often many!).  I aim to help others and expect that it will come back when I need it most.  I try my best to take care of myself so that I can take better care of ‘my people’ (my family, friends, clients)… Although, this last area could use some more focus.

Susyn:  What is your biggest challenge in living an inspired life and how do you approach this challenge?

Kelly:  I get so excited about everything I can do and everything that I can be that I often don’t meet my basic needs before moving onto to the bigger projects.  It is clear to me now that without proper self-care, I can’t show up fully and offer my gifts abundantly to others. When I sleep, eat well, exercise, pray, have fun, etc. … that’s when I can be more and offer more to those who need and want what I have to give.

Susyn:  Who/What has influenced you in living your inspired life?

Kelly:  My mother is a big source of inspiration to me.  She lives a ‘big life’ and loves every minute of it.  Both she and my Dad encouraged me to go for my dreams … so I do!

I also constantly seek out new sources of learning about life and learning about me. I take seminars, classes, read books, get coaching, etc.  Life is a continual classroom until you leave this Earth and I am always seeking out new sources of learning.

My fiance, Tony, is a great reminder to me to enjoy the moment and to be grateful for ‘what is’.  He is the yin to my yang (or the other way around!).

Susyn:  What are you working on now?
Kelly:  I am so, so excited to be hosting a virtual multi-expert event for professional and entrepreneurial women called: “Your Career, Your Calling.”  I will be interviewing 15 experts (including Susyn!) on what it takes for women to have true happiness, success, AND prosperity in their most ideal career (one that feels like their ‘calling’).  We get started Oct. 18th and I’ve put together an easy schedule so you can attend as many of the live interviews as possible.

Susyn:  What words of wisdom do you have for someone who desires to live their inspired life vision?

Kelly:  My advice is to be clear within yourself as to what you need and want to be happy, successful, satisfied, and fulfilled in any area of your life.  Write down your big vision for yourself and get juicy about it.  No one else but you has to see it so don’t be shy or conservative.

Until you are clear within yourself, the universe is confused about what to help you achieve.  Plus, you won’t notice the opportunities that are a match for your big vision.

Since I’ve helped hundreds of successful, experienced professionals to have a more happy, successful, ideal career, I know that you have to start with the vision and get clear about your ideal ‘experience’ BEFORE you start researching jobs/careers. Shop for a career like you shop for a car or a house… get your priority list and requirements down and then start your research. It’s much easier this way.
